So when we hear the phrase let’s agree to disagree I think of a phrase that says we may not agree on everything but we know we need to do something. It is very patriotic to not only feel passionate about your beliefs but to also disagree. In this viral video of Beto O’Rourke, current Representative from Texas that is running for US Senate against Ted Cruz, he gives his position on kneeling during the anthem by NFL players. In the video he states that there is nothing more American than protesting. He goes on to give reasons why invoking the book “Parting the Waters: America in the King Years” and countless examples of how our armed forces and our ordinary citizens paid in different ways for the freedoms we have today. This video was taken by Nivien Saleh and featured on Now This News. You can see the entire viral video here.

I can appreciate the candor by which Beto talks about our frustration with politicians like him — politicians that make promises to do things but never follow through. I think we have seen a lot of that from the state on up to the federal level.
